S.C.O.R.E. Performance Counseling Gets Great Scores

Survey results from a recent S.C.O.R.E. Performance Counseling seminar revealed some great scores and feedback from the participants. 77% of respondents stated they developed new knowledge, skills, or abilities for conducting performance counseling. 91% of respondents stated that the training helped them think critically about how the will conduct future performance counseling. When asked about the overall effectiveness of the training for performance counseling, with 0% = not effective at all, and 100% = completely effective, respondents gave an overall effective score of 87%.

When compared to the survey results of the United States Office of Personnel Management for the last five years (highest effectiveness of 31% in 2017), if supervisors and leaders used the S.C.O.R.E. Performance Counseling Method to conduct performance counseling, they will see an increase of approximately 56% in holding people accountable for behavior and saving the relationships while conducting performance counseling. As a leader in your organization ask yourself:

  • If 77% of participants said they learned new knowledge skills or abilities, what is the chance that your people will learn some too?

  • If 91% of the respondents stated the training made them think critically about how they will conduct performance counseling in the future, what is the probability that your people will too?

  • If the average effectiveness of performance counseling is 31%, can you afford to NOT learn the SCORE Performance Counseling Method?

Maybe it is time for you to look at Supportive, Clear, Organized, Redirection, Effort, or S.C.O.R.E. Performance Counseling that overcomes the usual failures of supervisors and managers. One participant said of the training:

"The content was organized the instructor was

knowledgeable and had good information that I

hope our department will add in to deal with

[employees] that might need a reality check."
